Alternative Breaks is hosting a dog toy making event for a local shelter! We will be donating all toys made to Harbor Humane and other shelters in need. From 7-9 PM on November 29th in Kirkhof Center room 1104. We are taking old t-shirts (donations welcome, bring old ones with if you have extra!) and cutting them up, then creating dog toys with these! This will get students up to 2 hours of service hours! Come at any point 7-9 PM! No need to be a member of Alternative Breaks to come, this is open to anyone! Any questions? contact either [email protected] or [email protected]
As a summary of Alternative Breaks,
We are a non-profit student organization that focuses on social and environmental service nationally (over 6 hours from Grand Rapids) or regionally (within 6 hours of Grand Rapids) over Spring Break. This is perfect to get 40+ hours of community service, bond and make friends with members, and travel out of Michigan! An added benefit is that it looks great on your resume and LinkedIn too!!!
This year we are taking 5 trips from March 4th - March 11th. The trips are:
- Individuals with Different Abilities (national, $250)
- Park Preservation (national, $250)
- Water Restoration (national. $250)
- Homelessness (regional, $150)
- Animal Rescue (regional, special price of $150)
The cost of these trips includes EVERYTHING! Transportation, food, stay, gas, all of it!
