This Veterans Day, the GVSU Student Veterans of America Chapter (Laker Vets) in partnership with the Peter Secchia Military and Veterans Resource Center, invite you to participate in the second annual Laker Vet Run, Walk Fly 5K!
More of a "fun run" than a fast run. This year's proceeds will go directly to our Student Veterans of America Chapter, Laker Vets to support the members' attendance at the national conference in Nashville, TN where they will join chapters from over 1,500 campuses for time to share ideas, best practices, network with military-connected students, supporters, allies, as well as corporate, government, and non-profit partners.
Registration Levels
- PLATINUM LEVEL: 5k Entry, Sweatshirt, Skull Cap, Sticker & Bib | $50
- GOLD LEVEL: 5k Entry, Skull Cap, Sticker & Bib | $30
- SILVER LEVEL: 5k Entry,Sticker & Bib | $15
- BRONZE LEVEL: 5k Entry &Bib | $10
Additional ways to show your support
- SHOW YOUR LAKER/PATRIOTIC PRIDE: Wear your GVSU / red, white & blue gear as you walk/run to raise awareness.
- GET YOUR WORKOUT IN! Carry a weight/rucksack with you during your 5k to symbolize the weight veterans have carried for this country.

INVOLVE FAMILY & FRIENDS: Bring your
family members with you on your walk/run to show
solidarity with military-connected students.

Laker Vets at Grand Valley is one of over 1,400 Student Veteran of America chapters from around the nation. Our chapter is here to support student veterans, military, and dependants in their success on campus and in the classroom. We are an inclusive organization, and as such we welcome anybody wanting to make a positive difference for our community! You do not have to be a veteran to be a member.
We strive to provide social events, professional development, and community service opportunities on a year round basis. We have a veteran's lounge in the Kirkhof building on the basement floor (room 0072). The veteran's lounge is a place for our members to socialize, study, and find resources unique to the veteran community.
Mission Statement: To provide year round social and wellness, professional development opportunities, and academic support to GVSU student veterans, GI Bill users, and other military/veteran supporters to promote the individual's purpose and success by using flexible and inclusive programming.
