Area & Global Studies is hosting Global Horizons Week to engage students with our interconnected world.

Join us on Thursday, November 16 for an international movie and snacks!

Theeb (2014, dir. Naji Abu Nowar) is a thriller-drama about an orphaned Bedouin child in the midst of World War I. After being separated from his family, the young boy Theeb wanders the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, encountering friends and foes.

Theeb is especially powerful in its casting of actual Bedouin people, members of nomadic tribes that have traveled the Middle East for thousands of years. It was the first Jordanian film to snag a Best Foreign Language Film nomination at the Oscars, along with gathering awards from the Venice International Film Festival and the British Academy Film Awards.
