Community, Faculty, Staff, Students

Dr. Gregory Veeck, Emeritus Professor, Western Michigan University, is one of the foremost experts on China. His presentation, Unintended Consequences: Environmental protection initiatives and social, economic, and cultural change in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan, China, will examine traditions and recent changes in agriculture and resource use in the region. China is rapidly industrializing its agricultural economy and there is great pressure on farmers to change their practices. Demographic changes and rural-to-urban migration also contribute to a complex situation in this vast and productive region of China. The Department of Geography and Sustainable Planning 2023 Open House is open to all students and faculty community members and there will be information on majors, minors, and certificates. Food and beverages will be provided.
