Kick off the season under the lights at Lubbers Stadium as the Grand Valley State University Lakers open the 2026 home football season on Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. Celebrate the first week of classes by joining thousands of Lakers fans for one of the most anticipated nights of the year. The excitement starts well before kickoff, with tailgating beginning at 3:00 p.m. Gather your friends, enjoy the pregame atmosphere, and get ready for an unforgettable night of Laker football. GVSU takes on a historically successful West Texas A&M team in a matchup of high-level competition with promises of an electric atmosphere. The night also marks the return of our annual WHITE OUT, so grab your best white lakers gear and pack the student section. There's no better way to start the school year than cheering on the Lakers with your friends. Be loud, wear white, and rally behind the Lakers as they begin the season at home!
