Compass representing the orientation of new faculty to GVSU

Welcome to the Grand Valley State University Teaching Community!

On behalf of the Office of the Provost and the Robert & Mary Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center, all new faculty are invited to attend a VIRTUAL (online) New Faculty Orientation on Wednesday, August 12 and Thursday, August 13, 2020.  New tenure-track faculty will also participate in an additional session on Friday, August 14, 2020.

Orientation will equip new faculty with information to support their success at GVSU and is designed with opportunities for new faculty to meet and engage with GVSU leadership and other new faculty.

Although the event will be virtual this year (online) new faculty should plan on reserving 2-3 hours each day for synchronous time together.  These synchronous sessions will include remarks from Provost Maria Cimitile and President Mantella, case study reviews, and small-group discussions.  The intent is that new faculty will leave Orientation with tools, resources, new relationships and supports, and with a better sense of our Laker Community.  The schedule of required and optional sessions is still be finalized and will be posted online once ready.

Please visit our New Faculty Orientation webpage for more information and to register.
