About our speaker:
Dr. Larry Molnar, Physics and Astronomy Professor at Calvin College, is coming to speak at an open event at GVSU. Dr. Molnar has made ripples in the international Astronomy community recently, with his research focusing on contact binary stars. In the spring of 2017 Dr. Molnar, with the help of his pupils at Calvin, published a paper demonstrating ways to detect and predict luminous red novae. Since then, Dr. Molnar and his team have come ever closer to understanding contact binaries and red nova, paving a way for future direct observation of these exciting and elusive phenomena.
