2021 Summer institute Day 2

Wednesday, August 4, 2021
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Off Campus
Community

On the second day of Summer Institute, teachers will dive into water quality and watersheds with an assigned group (K-8/Beginners or High School/Advanced). Working throughout the day and at different locations throughout the park, educators will explore different ways to gather and log data on macroinvertebrates and test other aspects of streams and rivers. Partners West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) and Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds (LGROW) will lead this activity.

Summer Institute is best experienced as a full three-day series. However, if attending all three workshops is not feasible, each day works as a stand-alone Professional Development (PD) and Groundswell still encourages teachers to attend.

Join us for this annual summer workshop series! The 2021 Summer Institute will provide a deep dive into place-based education and teaching through the local community. Teachers, community partners, and GVSU student teachers/assistants are all welcome. Don't miss this in person event at Palmer Park in Wyoming. Absorb new teaching techniques, make local connections, and take home our helpful teaching materials.
