Laker Esports Center

The Laker Esports Center (LEC) is located on the bottom floor of the Kirkhof Center, on GVSU's Allendale Campus, and is open daily for drop-in gaming. The LEC is managed and operated by Recreation & Wellness.

All GVSU students, faculty and staff can access the LEC during drop-in gaming hours, and there are 23 gaming setups available for use, which include:

  • Alienware R-12 Gaming PC (i7-11700k, RTX 3080)
  • Alienware 25" 240hz Gaming Monitor
  • MillerKnoll Embody Chair
  • MillerKnoll Motia Gaming Table
  • Alienware Wired/Wireless Gaming Mouse
  • Alienware 501K Low Profile RGB Gaming Keyboard
  • Alienware AW510H Gaming Headset
  • Custom GVSU Mousepad
  • Xbox & Playstation Controller(s)
  • Nintendo Switch(s)

LEC users are welcome to bring their own gaming equipment, as long as they return the stations back to their original setup upon leaving the LEC.

Esports Club

The esports club is where casual and competitive gamers at GVSU come to play. Esports club members have the opportunity to compete for a team against colleges and universities around the country, participate in community events, and take on leadership opportunities to begin the pursuit of a career in esports/gaming.

Currently, the esports club fields official competitive teams in the following games:

  • Valorant
  • Rocket League
  • League of Legends
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Overwatch 2
  • Counter-Strike 2

Assistant Director

Riley Long (@Dizzayee) is a member of the Recreation & Wellness department and provides leadership on anything and everything related to esports and gaming at GVSU. He has experience leading esports initiatives at two previous institutions and won a NACE National Championship in 2021 with Michigan Tech. Riley also founded Armada Esports in 2017, and over the course of 5 years, he built one of the best Super Smash Bros. Ultimate teams in the world.

Riley is passionate about creating meaningful experiences through esports programming and competition for GVSU students and West Michigan communities/organizations.
