CSAL Faculty Honored

Dr. Donald “DJ" Mitchell is the recipient of the 2017 GVSU Outstanding University Service Award.  Only one award is given each year by GVSU for service contributions to the university.  In addition to serving as program coordinator for the M.Ed. in Higher Education program, Dr. Mitchell has been active on campus with the Division of Inclusion and Equity; serves on graduate council; serves on the College of Education Advanced Policies and Programs Committee; and serves on the advisory board for the GVSU Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center.  He has also co-chaired the Black Faculty and Staff Association, worked with the Freshman Academy Academic Success Institute, and is a mentor in the Black Male Initiate program through the Office of Multicultural Affairs, among his many other service activities.

Dr. Karyn Rabourn is the 2016 recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award which is awarded by the GVSU Graduate School.  In her short tenure at GVSU Dr. Rabourn has already established herself as an excellent teacher, advisor and mentor to students.

Congratulations to both Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Rabourn for their achievements this past year.
