About
Dr. Chasity Bailey-Fakhoury is an associate professor of Educational Foundations in Grand Valley's College of Education and Community Innovation. She is a sociologist of education and teacher educator preparing equity-minded future teachers. Chasity uses mixed methods to research socialization practices, identity development, and the academic achievement of African American girls; African American motherwork in predominantly White schools; and colorism and discipline. Before joining GVSU in 2013, Chasity taught for 15 years in the Detroit Public Schools.
