2024 Application for Respiratory Care Track B

Track B is for students who have graduated from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care CoARC-accredited associate degree program and have their Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential.

  • Rolling Deadline... Applications will continue to be accepted until all seats are filled.
  • Admission to GVSU is required prior to submitting this application. If you have not been admitted to GVSU please go to the GVSU admisison website and apply.
  • The Track B program typically starts in the winter semester, however full & part-time options are available and therefore students can start in any semester once accepted to the program. 
  • Students will complete Respiratory Care (RSC), Allied Health Sciences (AHS) and General education designated courses. The number of outstanding general education course requirements will depend upon previous coursework. Student transcript(s) will be evaluated to determine transfer courses that fulfill the bachelor degree requirements. 
  • Students who have completed the MACRAO or MTA criteria through a community college will have fulfilled many of the general courses. 
  • Per the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), students entering the program without the advanced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential must achieve the credential prior to taking the final semester RSC 495 capstone course.
  • Students can transfer up to 80 credits from the respiratory care associate degree and a minimum of 40 credits (of the required 120 graduation credits) must be from a senior-level institution/university.

If you are not currently enrolled at GVSU or are enrolled but have not yet taken GVSU classes and have not met with a College of Health Profession (CHP) academic advisor, you should:

  1. Meet with a CHP academic advisor as soon as possible to review your transfer course equivalencies and program eligibility.
  2. Call the CHP Student Services Office at (616) 331-5900 to set up a prospective student advising appointment.

Individuals who have been involved in a criminal proceeding or charged with or convicted of a crime may not be eligible for clinical placement and/or national certification and/or licensure. Students who are unable to complete a clinical placement may not be able to meet program requirements for graduation. If you have been charged or been convicted of a crime please feel free to submit this application, however we encourage you to contact the Respiratory Care (RSC) Program Director, Professor Ann Flint by email at [email protected]  to inquire how this could impact your completion of the RSC program.
