What are you studying and what do you find exciting about it?
I'm currently studying organic chemistry, specifically organic spectroscopy used to determine the absolute stereochemistry of a variety of molecules. It's exciting because outside of X-ray diffraction, it's the only non-empirical way to assign stereochemistry.
How did your GVSU Chemistry degree help you prepare for your current work?
My time at GVSU prepared me for graduate school by giving me a ton of time in the lab. It became pretty obvious to me that a lot of my peers had only read how to use instruments or perform some technique, but I had the opportunity to actually do them.
