What is your current position and what do you find exciting about it?
I am currently a Sr. Scientist at a vaccine startup called Affinivax in Cambridge, MA. I develop analytical assays to support our process development and quality control groups. The most exciting part of my job is knowing the problems I solve on a daily basis are important for getting a product to market that will save lives.
How did your GVSU Chemistry degree help you prepare for your position?
GVSU provided a very strong understanding of the fundamental coursework, which helped in graduate school and my career. I was given research and teaching opportunities at GVSU, which helped me develop the ability to work independently. Also, I credit GVSU with making me a better writer. I can't overstate how important writing is!
