What is your current position and what do you find exciting about it?

I have recently finished my Ph.D. at UF in Organic Chemistry with my research focusing on controlled radical polymerization, specifically, photoiniferter polymerization. I am excited by polymer chemistry due to its ubiquity in daily life and passionate about studying the molecular mechanisms and features that translate to macro-level physical properties and the human experience with the material.  I have accepted a job as a Process Engineering Postdoctoral Fellow with J&J Vision.

How did your GVSU CHM/BIC degree help prepare you for your work?

Leaving GVSU with a solid organic chemistry and biochemistry foundation has paid dividends. Being able to apply organic chemistry to the field of polymer chemistry and materials has allowed me to develop novel and exciting techniques for the synthesis of advanced materials.
