Alina Morales '16
What is your current position and what do you find exciting about it?
I am currently a Scientific Associate for the digital marketing company, Viscira. I am part of the medical content team who partners with pharmaceutical agencies to craft original content for websites, health care providers and some marketing materials. What I most enjoy is partnering with the design and animation teams to bring a story to life. I have been privileged to work on mechanism of action animations, HCP website content development and informational slide decks and brochures. The best part of the job is to work on a variety of projects and see them through to the end.
How did your GVSU Chemistry/Biochemistry degree help you prepare for your position?
I thought that the seminars and the opportunity to communicate science to the department was a huge help when preparing for posters and presentations in graduate school and also for the start of my career in science communications. I also had the amazing opportunity to work in Dr. Rachel Powers lab, which gave me invaluable experiences conducting research, reading papers and developing confidence in my own work. Had I not had such a great experience with my mentor, I would not have been able to go to graduate school or pursue the career path that I am currently on.
