Literacy Coaching, Graduate Certificate

The literacy coaching certificate recognizes educators who have demonstrated expertise in supporting and advancing literacy instruction through collaboration, data-driven practices, and reflective inquiry. Educators earning this certificate will develop knowledge of adult learning theory and skills in guiding teachers to analyze student work and design/implement effective literacy lessons. They will also learn to facilitate professional learning communities, enhancing teaching strategies focused on evidence-based instructional methods. This certificate underscores educators commitment to fostering student growth in reading, writing, and critical thinking through collaborative teacher work while building a culture of continuous improvement and instructional excellence. To earn this certificate, candidates will need to complete four courses through the graduate Literacy Studies program (i.e., 12 credits). Each course is 3-credits and offered fully online using both synchronous and asynchronous instructional methods. Courses include:

Planned Program: Literacy Coaching Certificate 12 Credits

Students should meet with their advisor at the beginning of the program to sign a planned program and map out coursework. Applications are required for fieldwork courses (EDR 685, EDR 687, and EDR 689). Suggested application deadlines: February 15 for summer, May 15 for fall, September 15 for winter semester. Candidates must maintain a 3.0 G.P.A.
