Badge in Distributed Computing

The College of Computing's Distributed Computing badge is designed to prepare students to accomplish the following:

  • Describe how TCP/IP enables the Internet to function.
  • Set up network firewalls.
  • Evaluate different virtualization architectures.
  • Understand issues posed by distributed systems such as clock synchronization, naming, and consistency.
  • Write a Web-based application.

Admission

Completion of a bachelor's degree and evidence of object-oriented programming skills are required for admission.

Program Location

Classes are offered fully online, in a hybrid format, or in-person in the late afternoon or evening in downtown Grand Rapids.

Requirements

The Distributed Computing badge is comprised of three courses (9 credits).
