Applied Computing Foundations
The Applied Computing Foundations badge is designed to give students a broad introduction to the diverse domains of computing, including computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, software engineering, artificial intelligence, and human-centered computing. By exploring these fields, students gain foundational knowledge and exposure to different career pathways, empowering them to identify the domain that best aligns with their skills, interests, and professional goals. This badge serves as a gateway to deeper study and specialization in the rapidly evolving world of computing.
Students will select three courses from the following list:
- CIS 161 - Computing for Data Science Applications I OR CIS 162 - Computer Science I
- CIS 163 - Computer Science II OR CIS 164 - Computing for Data Science Applications II
- AI 201 - Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
- HCC 201 - Introduction to Human Centered Computing
- CIS 258 - Introduction to Cybersecurity
- CIS 350 - Introduction to Software Engineering
- CIS 250 - Principles of Information Systems
- CIS 230 - Hardware and Software
