CHM 351 - Introduction to Physical Chemistry

A one-semester survey of the concepts of physical chemistry. Topics include the first and second laws of thermodynamics, free energy and equilibrium, kinetic theory of matter, reaction kinetics and mechanisms, and an introduction to quantum mechanics. Three hours of lecture per week. Offered fall semester. Prerequisites: Both CHM 127 and CHM 128, MTH 201, and (PHY 202, or PHY 220, or PHY 230); may be taken concurrently.
