BIO 317 - Principles of Animal Nutrition

The course covers basic principles of animal nutrition with a primary emphasis on agricultural animals and practices. Topics include analysis of foodstuffs, ration formulation, feeding, digestion, comparative anatomy of animal GI tracts, absorption and metabolism of the various food nutrients, measurement of body needs, and characteristics of nutrients. Offered winter semester. Prerequisites: BIO 120, CHM 115, and CHM 116.
