GEO 314 - Petrography: Mineral and Rock Analysis

This course develops skills in mineral and rock description, identification and interpretation using polarizing light microscopy and X-ray diffraction as tools for mineral identification, textural descriptions and interpretation of igneous and metamorphic rocks, drawing on concepts of crystallography, crystal chemistry and optical mineralogy. Laboratory and lecture/discussion. Course offered winter semester.

Prerequisite: GEO 214 or permission of instructor.
