ENG 326 - Nineteenth-Century American Literature
Intensive study of major authors, literary movements, and themes from the post Revolutionary War Period to 1900. Topics may include the American Renaissance; Transcendentalism; Realism; Local Color Writers; African American slave narratives and autobiographies; the Civil War; Naturalism; and developments in nineteenth-century literary genres. May be repeated for credit if the content varies. Offered even-numbered years, winter semester. Prerequisites: ENG 215, ENG 216, and ENG 225.
