PHI 345 - Philosophy of Mind

Introduction to theories about mind, brain, and consciousness, their development and interrelations in the species and individual. Topics include the social construction of consciousness; subjectivity; altered states of consciousness, "higher states of consciousness" and the unconscious; relations between mind, consciousness and brain; consciousness and language and consciousness and machines. Offered fall semester of odd-numbered years.
