MUS 337 - Jazz Theory

Study of chord voicings beyond basic triads and seventh chords, and of basic contemporary jazz harmonic progressions. Substitute progressions will be studied along with various jazz scale forms. Various theories of jazz harmony will be explored along with analysis of tunes taken from the jazz repertoire. Offered once a year.
