HNR 209 - Islamic Middle East I: The Classical Period

Course examines the historical and literary context from the preIslamic period through the Ottoman era. It begins with a background of history, religions, and literature before the birth of Muhammad, then focuses on the impact of Islam in Arabia and, later, on the Middle East and beyond. Fulfills WRT 150 requirement. Fulfills Foundation - Historical Perspectives. Offered fall semester. Corequisites: HNR 209 and HNR 210 must be taken concurrently.
