EAS 323 - Modern Japanese Culture

This course explores the major trends in Japanese civilization and culture from the end of the Tokugawa period in 1868 to the present. Readings will consist mainly of primary sources in English translation, and will include history, religion, philosophy, art, literature, and theater. Crosslisted with JPN 323. Offered winter semester, every third year.
