Inquiry Teaching in Science Graduate Certificate

The graduate inquiry teaching in science certificate provides a unique opportunity for middle and high school science teachers to engage in scientific research, explore science education research, and work with a cohort of motivated teachers. Teachers will grow in their profession as they apply their knowledge from these experiences to develop inquiry-based activities for their students and present their work at regional and national meetings.

The inquiry teaching in science certificate is designed for the practicing middle or high school science teacher who already possesses an M.Ed. Courses taken in the certificate program may be applied toward the M.Ed. in instruction and curriculum with advanced content specialization in science.

Admission

Applicants for the graduate inquiry teaching in science certificate must:

  1. Complete an Application for Graduate Studies.
  2. Hold an M.Ed., with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last two years of undergraduate work.
  3. Be employed as a middle or high school teacher concurrent with enrollment in SCI 632.
  4. Submit three letters of recommendation, official transcripts of all previous coursework, and copies of teaching certificates.

Required Courses (15 credit hours)

The certificate requires the completion of 15 credit hours of graduate study.
