MUS 305 - Music: Nineteenth Century

A study of nineteenth-century music by composers of Europe and North America, considering examples of symphonic poems, lieder, character pieces, chamber music, and nationalistic music. Study of "classical'' forms as altered in opera and symphonic music. Offered winter semester of odd-numbered years. Prerequisite: MUS 120.
