GRK 400 - Greek Poetry

Study of ancient Greek poetry such as the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, Hesiod's Theogony, or the lyric poetry by Archilochus, Sappho, and Simonides. Special attention to the meter, meaning, and context of poetry designed for public performance. May be repeated for credit when topics vary. Offered winter semester in odd-numbered years. Prerequisite: One 300-level Greek course.
