CIS 452 - Operating Systems Concepts

Fundamental operating systems concepts: processes and threads, CPU scheduling, coordination and synchronization, deadlock, memory management, input/output devices, file systems, distributed systems, protection and security. Case studies and lab exercises using modern operating systems. Offered fall and winter semesters. Prerequisites: CIS 251 and (CIS 343 or CIS 361 or EGR 326), and admitted to CIS major or CIS minor standing, or EGR major standing.
