CLA 311 - Ancient Great Philosophers

A study of one or several ancient great philosophers, such as the pre-Socratics, Plato, Aristotle, Lucretius. Focus will be on the philosophers' writings, but attention also will be given to context and tradition. Crosslisted with PHI 311. May be repeated for credit if content differs. Offered fall and winter semesters. Prerequisite: Prior work in philosophy or classics, or permission of the instructor.
