CJR 366 - Arts Reporting and Criticism

A workshop in writing about the arts. Examination of the function of arts publicists, reporters and reviewers, and "serious" critics. Focus on conveying aesthetically relevant information about artifacts, exhibits, and performance in lucid and interesting prose. Film, video, theatre, music, dance, painting, sculpture, and other arts will be subjects, depending on the particular emphasis of the semester and the interests of the students. Offered fall semester of odd numbered years. Prerequisites: Ability to write competently and experience or coursework in one or more of the arts. CJR 256 or permission of instructor.
