MUS 303 - Music: Baroque Era

A comprehensive examination of vocal and instrumental music from 1600 to 1750. Major forms studied will include concerto, opera, oratorio, cantata, and fugue. Principal composers studied will include Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Corelli, Vivaldi, Telemann, Handel, and J.S. Bach. An analytical and historical approach with emphasis on listening. Offered fall semester of even numbered years on sufficient demand . Prerequisite: MUS 120.
