ENG 662 - Structure of English

An advanced course in contemporary syntactic analysis of English. The course focuses on both descriptive and prescriptive properties of English, primarily in the generative-transformational framework. It also addresses pedagogical issues in teaching grammar in ESL and other settings. While designed for TESOL majors, other students of English, such as prospective English and language arts majors, may also find it beneficial. Offered spring semester. Prerequisite: ENG 660 or permission of instructor.
