EGR 453/553 - Biomedical Materials

Study of the characteristics of materials used in medicine and dentistry and their interactions with living tissues. Topics may include biocompatibility, host responses, degradation of biomaterials in biological environments and their applications in artificial organs, implants, soft and hard tissue replacements, dentistry, drug-delivery systems, medical equipment, etc. Offered fall semester. Prerequisite: EGR 250 or admission to the MSE program and permission of instructor.
