PLS 382 - Politics of Post-Communist Europe

A comparative empirical and theoretical analysis of government and politics in the former communist countries of the Baltic region, Central Europe, and the Balkans. Topics include the collapse of communism, parties, elections, political economy, nationalism and ethnic conflict, social welfare policy, and relations with the European Union. Fulfills World Perspectives requirement. Offered fall semester. Prerequisite: PLS 103 or junior standing.
