HNR 255 - African Civilization I

This course surveys African civilizations through the medium of African literary texts and explores the relationship between literature and other arts, such as film and music. Analyzes the ways in which literature both reflects and interprets African societies from Pharaonic times through the 19th century. Must be taken concurrently with HNR 254. Fulfills Philosophy and Literature. Offered fall semester. Prerequisites: Enrollment in the Honors College and corequisite HNR 254.
