GEO 350 - Geology's Great Debate in the New World

Geology's great debate, whether Earth was shaped by slow, uniform processes (uniformitarianism) or rapid, catastrophic events (catastrophism), is explored in the context of the history of the science of Geology and the development of the New World by examining selected topics related to major or minor geologic events in the Western Hemisphere. Part of the Continuity and Change in the Americas theme; not part of the Geology/Earth Science major or minor. (3-0-0) Offered fall semester. Prerequisites: Completion of physical or life science General Education requirement.
