EAS 322 - Early Modern Japanese Civilization

This course explores the major trends in Japanese civilization and culture from the beginning of the Edo Period ca. 1600 through the end of the 19th century. Readings will consist primarily of primary sources in English translation, and will include history, religion, philosophy, art, literature, and theater. Offered winter semester, every third year.
