PHI 230 - American Philosophy

Focuses on figures from the classical period of American philosophy such as Peirce, James, Royce, Dewey, Santayana, and Whitehead. Works from the Colonial period and from the Romantic and Transcendental movements, together with selected current sources, provide an historical and intellectual context for understanding these focal figures. Offered fall semester, odd-numbered years.
