HST 325 - History of American Sports

Course examines the history of American Sports from folk games and blood sports to the modern era of professional sports. Course will explore impact of broad, social, political, and economic changes upon the development of America's sporting culture. Special emphasis placed upon issues of race, class, and gender. Part of the Sport and Life General Education theme. Offered fall and winter semesters. Prerequisites: Completion of Historical Perspectives Foundation or junior standing.
