HNR 228 - The Making of Europe IV: Late Renaissance

Last of a four-course sequence exploring the development of European culture. Covers the period from approximately 1550 A.D. to 1700 A.D. History, philosophy, literature, art, and music of this era are presented. Topics include Protestant Reformation; Baroque art; Shakespeare, Cervantes, Milton; sacred and secular music; Descartes and Hobbes. Fulfills Arts Foundation. Offered winter semester. Prerequisites: HNR 217, HNR 218, and HNR 227.
