GRK 401 - Greek Drama

Study of ancient Greek tragedy or comedy in the cultural, historical, and theatrical contexts of Athenian drama. Topics include the staging of the plays, the emotional effects of tragedy or comedy, drama's function as political and social commentary, and the linguistic complexities of imagery and word-play. Offered winter semester in even-numbered years. Prerequisite: One 300 level Greek course.
