GEO 495 - Global Tectonics (Geology Capstone)

Principles and processes of continental drift, sea-floor spreading, and plate tectonics, including paleomagnetic, geodetic, sedimentologic, paleontologic, seismic, petrologic, and structural approaches to the study of moving plates of lithosphere. The relationships between plate tectonics and the evolution of selected fold mountain systems as the Appalachians, Alps, Himalayas, and Cordilleran fold chains. (3-0-0) Offered winter semester. Prerequisites: GEO 311.
