CLA 410 - Literary Translation: Theory and Practice

An introduction to the theory, practice, and art of translating poetry, prose, and drama. In a workshop format, students translate texts into English from their choice of ancient or modern languages, and study the history, theory, and the social, cultural, and political contexts of translation. Offered winter semester in even-numbered years. Prerequisite: One 200 level course in any non-English language.
