CJR 316 - Editing

How to edit writing, including your own, from a reader's point of view. Principles of rhetoric, logic and grammar applied to the substantial revision of nonfiction manuscripts, e.g., feature stories, magazine articles, technical reports, interpretive essays. Analysis of criteria for editorial judgment, e.g., Strunk and White, Beardsley, Orwell, style books. Offered fall and winter semesters. Prerequisites: CJR 256 or permission of instructor.
