CHM 242 - Organic Chemistry For Life Sciences II

A continuation of 241. Topics include the nomenclature, organic transformations, mechanisms, stereochemistry, spectroscopy, and the chemistry of alcohols, carbonyls, carboxylic acid derivatives, amines, and carbohydrates. This course emphasizes the importance and application of functional group organic chemistry in living systems. (3-1-3) Offered fall and winter semesters. Prerequisites: CHM 241.
