A critical examination of the world as portrayed on television, with particular emphasis on gender and ethnic stereotyping; trends in news and so-called ``reality'' programming; effects on audiences; economic, political, and social influences. Offered fall semester. Prerequisites: Preference to Broadcasting majors.
