There's An App For That...!

Did you know that there are several Mobile Apps available to GVSU students? Mobile Apps are great way to access data quickly, they allow users to interact with the world, and the GVSU campus.  Have you ever been in the library working on a group project and wondered if you were going to miss the bus?  Mobile Apps available to GVSU students cover a wide variety of services including; campus safety, weather alerts, bus service, and Blackboard.  Let's take a look at the Mobile Apps available to GVSU Students, read the brief description and follow the link for instructions on how to download the App, (my personal favorite, The Disney World App, not available here!)

Rave (Laker) Guardian - An App used to protect your safety while on campus.  The Safety Timer function allows you to notify your trusted friends and family as to your status and location, especially if you are in an unfamiliar location or are meeting with someone you don't know.  You can also become a Guardian for your friends on campus, returning the favor, monitoring their status and location.  The GVSP can be called directly if you are in trouble. Report a suspicious situation or crime, you can send texts, and even include photos!

GVSUAlert - GVSUAlert is a mass, urgent notification system, designed to notify students, faculty and staff of a campus emergency via a variety of methods including:

• Text Messages
• Email
• Voice Message

When the GVSU Police Department determines there is an active emergency in which the safety of the campus community may be at risk, an urgent notification through the GVSUAlert system will be initiated.  Examples of when a GVSUAlert will be sent include, but are not limited to:

• A Tornado Warning
• A Hazardous Material Incident on Campus
• Campus Closing or Cancellations (Due to Winter Weather, etc.)
• An Active Shooter on Campus

 

Rapid Connect - Want to know when the bus will arrive?  Get real time arrival information via your mobile phone!

 

Blackboard App for Students - A great option for students who are on the go. Below is a list of the key features of this app:

• Activity Stream - Shows smart view of prioritized events and actions.
• Assignments & Tests - View, complete and submit assignments and tests.
• Grades & Progress - Check grades and academic progress in real time.
• Synchronous Learning - Join virtual classes on the go in Collaborate.
